Now Entering the Blogosphere

Welcome to the “blogosphere”!
Together we are entering into one of the latest and greatest forums for thoughts and ideas online. Not only will you be writing as often as possible, but what you write will be posted on your blog, ready and waiting for someone else out there to read and respond to it. At times I will ask you to choose your own subjects for your posts; you will be free to tell the world how you feel. At other times you may be responding to a story, discussion, or idea that came up in class. Whatever you decide to write down, remember, it is there for all to read. Make sure your writing reads well and your blog looks good! Lastly, this new tech adventure is new to both you AND me, therefore we will be perfecting our blogging skills together and I too, will need to post some random thoughts for all to read just like you. I’m very interested in seeing where this takes us! Happy blogging!

Alyson, I think it is great that you are trying this out with your students. There are two main benefits to blogging for students:
1) publishing to a wider audience
2) feedback
Through the comments, other students, parents, teachers and indeed anyone at all, can give positive feedback on student’s writing. Visitors to the blog can then comment on the comments, the blog ‘s author can reply to comments and lively discussions frequently emerge.
